British Egg Week (7-13 Oct) celebrates the 'versatility, ease and nutritional benefits of British Lion eggs' – and to help do this, Daily Takeaways is highlighting their recipe for big breakfast pancakes {header photo}. After all, didn't they used to say to go to work on an egg?

Celebrated diarist Parson James Woodforde gave us an insight on this day in 1794 as to what one could expect of an 18th century second breakfast when he wrote of a 'second tho' late breakfast' with the Bishop of Norwich:
“Chocolate, green & brown Tea, hot rolls, dried Toast, Bread and Butter, Honey, Tongue and ham grated very small.”
