Indie gift ideas that truly say 'we care'

David Knight • 14 October 2021
Mindful gift ideas are ideal gift ideas for all reasons – they offer heart and hope and say ‘we truly care’ under all circumstances.
And as #mindfulgiftsday – marking World Mental Health Day – showed on #UKGiftHour #UKGiftAM last Sunday, UK indies and creatives are your ideal source for them.
Here’s just a sample of the positivity and wellbeing inspiration that was on show (clockwise from top left):
  • Yorkshire textiles devotee – and #mindfulgiftsday guest co-host maxollieandme – provided positive vibes for brighter days with this lavender and chamomile anxiety relief sachet from her caring range
  • Fellow Yorkshire stationery house Paper Soul Design showed how ‘Kind is Cool’ with this example of their positive prints and cards
  • Lincoln home and gift shop Home of Juniper shared mindful moments with this uplifting set of handmade bath salts and votive candle
  • Shropshire positivity standard-bearer CWPhotoArt says her aim is to bring smiles and make the world a brighter place – she did it with this little box of pick-me-ups
  • Cambridge bookbinder Handcrafted Books By Sue Day noted that writing, drawing and journaling can be so soothing – and promptly landed a #UKGiftHourPower sale with one of her Coptic stitch notebooks
  • West Sussex jewellery and card designer Eco Octopus showed how her eco-conscious creations – such as this autumn bunting made from sari off-cuts – are mindful of reducing the environmental impact around us
  • Hampshire creative Sew What Stitchery fills all occasions with heart using distinctive applique, embroidery and cross stitch techniques on cards
  • Lincolnshire knitwear specialist KnitClaire introduced us to her ‘twiddle pillows’ - a sensory and tactile fidget buster for people affected by dementia
  • Centre – this set of four coaster tiles, hand-painted with a unique flower design by London resin artisan MUresindesigns was one of the most liked and retweeted giftideas of the day.
