#UKGiftAM sets #shopindie tills ringing

David Knight • 7 October 2021
Online buyers are beginning to stir from their summer slumbers if recent #UKGiftHour #UKGiftAM experiences are anything to go by.
We’re delighted to be able to add three new UK indies to our #UKGiftHourPower sellers list after sales of their gift ideas during our Twitter weekend morning #shopindie marketplace – Staffordshire jewellery designer Angela Smith Jewellery, South Yorkshire wood and fabric creator Crafty Genes and Wiltshire artist Sue O’Sullivan.
A number of established sellers also reported repeat sales. Here’s the full rundown of what’s had customers hitting the ‘buy now’ buttons (clockwise from top left):
  • Highland slouch beanie from London homeless outreach CSR Masato Beanies  A joint venture with Black Yak and fashion designer Masato Jones of London and Leeds, it was one of nine beanies and five scarves to sell. Which is fantastic – because with each beanie sold, another is donated to homeless outreach
  • Bird sleep pods from Aberdeenshire friend of animals and the environment Hedge Buddies – who also rang up sales for bird food and a charity calendar in collaboration with Gary Black Photography supporting South of Scotland Wildlife Hospital
  • Leaf and floral earrings from Liverpool based designer of handmade polymer jewellery Forever Chic Jewellery – a pair of polka dot dangle earrings also went into a buyer’s shopping basket
  • Fabric bird hanging decorations from Crafty Genes
  • Jewel hat kit from Liverpool craft and design house Germander Cottage Crafts
  • Turquoise blue seahorse from Devon stained glass designer Lymelight Glass Studio
  • Herby the Hedgehog mini-make needle felting kit from Derbyshire craft kits and Russian dolls supplier Krasnayacrafts
  • Peach rose jigsaw puzzle earrings from Angela Smith Jewellery
  • Centre – The ‘Winter Chill’ triptych from Sue O'Sullivan (shown is just one of the three canvases that make up the abstract artwork)
In addition, Yorkshire jewellery designer TwiggyPeasticks reported two sales of her fun boho earrings and Welsh sea-inspired stoneware ceramic designer Tideline Ceramics rang up sales of two beach olive bowls, a beach mug and a honeycomb reef mug
We can’t guarantee sales - but we can guarantee doing all we can to increase the chances. Join in with UKGiftHour UKGiftAM on Twitter every Saturday and Sunday morning from 9am-midday – everyone is welcome!
