On a gift ideas mission for men

David Knight • 2 December 2021

They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach - meanwhile it was pointed out during #MensGiftsDay on #UKGiftHour #UKGiftAM that the majority of Brighton Preserves customers are men.

So it’s their marmalades (top left) that we sample first in this snapshot of gift ideas from our theme day on Twitter which proved once again that UK indies and creatives make a mockery of the notion that men are difficult to buy for.

Just look at some of the rest of the Christmas gift inspiration for him (clockwise from top centre):

  • Upcycled mancave lamps on themes from pool and bowls to space age and jukebox from quirky Yorkshire vintage emporium Ladybird Lane Decor
  • Distinctive bee pint glass (also available in Bee Happy and Just Bee) from Manchester design house Bee Create Designs
  • Chunky solid sterling silver handcrafted men’s pendant from Northamptonshire minimalist jewellers Ruby and Wonder
  • Peaky Blinders style, newsboy/baker boy cap in Shetland wool by Yorkshire crochet fashionista JammymichCrochet
  • Boozy Christmas box (there are plenty without alcohol too!) from the customisable gift set range of Derby-based Colleague Box
  • Vegan, natural and plastic-free cosmetics – individually or in gift sets – from Snowdonia eco-friendly alternative aces Battle Green
  • Prints and coasters with paintings on vintage maps by Lincolnshire artist Original Art Prints by Fiona Duncan
  • Centre – fascinating historic glazed figures by Wales ceramic artist Sally Jane Originals. Pictured are reproductions of ancient Greek originals from around 1300-1400 BC. “They may have been children’s toys, votive figurines or grave offerings,” she says.

As well as Twitter lists of UK indies and creatives who can offer men’s gifts, we have lists for art gifts, mindful gifts, eco gifts, children's gifts and animal gifts too – we’re a 24/7 independent giftfinder at your fingertips!

Join us on #UKGiftHour #UKGiftAM for #shopindie fun and discovery on Twitter every Saturday and Sunday from 9am-midday. Make it a #supportsmallbusiness Christmas this year!
